Artist Statement/ Painting

 The diverse cultures of the world have always been my inspiration for both art and writing. I believe it is important to know our world—the whole world— and the people in it.  By experiencing other places and customs, we put our own life into context and gain a deeper appreciation of all lives. Travel makes history and art, literature and architecture real. It helps us see the beauty of everyday life everywhere. 

As an Art Historian, in addition to a studio painter and printmaker, I find myself continually influenced and awed by the masterworks of the past and the way artists interpreted their own present.

I paint images and create prints from around the world and of the world around me.
